Many years ago, when we were young kids still learning that minimum wage wasn't going to get us rich, we found ourselves the proud and confused parents of two abandoned chicken pullets. We were so ready for them, we didn't even know what a pullet was! But we learned, very thoroughly, why those in the know call chickens the gateway drug to being a farmer. Once you start, you just can't stop! Fast forward nearly twenty years, and we have become a couple of happy farmers who raise chickens, geese, ducks, guinea hens, turkeys, dogs, cats, goats, and fish. In 2021 we started adding crops to the list of lives we're responsible for, and now we're excitedly on our way to being self-sufficient homesteaders!
